The Brake Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating brake press machines to bend, form, or straighten sheet metal according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role ensures that parts meet quality standards and are produced efficiently.​

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Setting up and operating brake press machines, including CNC and manual models, to perform bending operations on sheet metal.

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings to determine specifications and tooling requirements.

  • Selecting and installing appropriate tooling, such as dies and punches, based on material type and thickness.

  • Loading and unloading materials onto the machine bed, ensuring proper alignment and secure positioning.

  • Monitoring machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and make necessary adjustments.

  • Inspecting first part and finished parts using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to ensure conformance to specifications before submitting to inspection.

  • Performing routine maintenance on machines and tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and company policies.

Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating brake press machines in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience working in the aerospace industry is strongly preferred, or a comparable industry with strict quality standards, tight tolerances, and rigorous requirements (e.g. defense, automotive, etc.).

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.

  • Strong mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.

  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.

  • Familiarity with CNC programming and machine setup procedures.

  • Physical ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.​

Working conditions:

  • Full-time position, with potential for overtime based on production needs.

  • Work environment is climate controlled and may include exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery.

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection, is required.
