The Director of Maintenance leads all aircraft maintenance operations, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and team performance. This role is responsible for both hands-on oversight and strategic development of maintenance programs across general and business aviation environments.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and maintain a high-performance maintenance team, including mechanics certified in airframe and powerplant (Airframe and Powerplant mechanics).
Provide real-time coaching and mentoring to support technician development and performance.
Oversee hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews to align talent with company values and operational goals.
Develop and manage staffing schedules and workflows to meet service demands efficiently.
Facilitate team meetings to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and reinforce a culture of accountability and safety.
Operations, Safety, and Compliance
Maintain full compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration (Federal Aviation Administration) regulations under Part 91 and Part 135 operations.
Serve as the primary liaison for all Federal Aviation Administration inspections, audits, and regulatory communications.
Ensure accurate maintenance records, including inspections, repairs, and return-to-service documentation.
Monitor and manage compliance with all Airworthiness Directives, including timely evaluation, corrective action, and documentation.
Oversee the Minimum Equipment List program, including coordination with flight crews and timely resolution of discrepancies.
Plan, schedule, and assign resources for maintenance activities across the fleet.
Ensure proper inspection, calibration, and maintenance of tools and ground support equipment.
Lead the Safety Management System, including hazard reporting, risk assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Review applicable manufacturer service bulletins and implement actions that align with safety and operational needs.
Stay current with industry trends and regulatory updates, applying innovations to improve reliability and performance.
Use Flight Schedule Pro to track aircraft maintenance status, work orders, and compliance documentation.
Provide hands-on maintenance support as needed.
Manage maintenance-related budgets, inventory, and equipment procurement.
Negotiate and oversee maintenance-related contracts.
Supervise accurate and timely payroll submissions for the maintenance team.
Financial Performance
Manage department budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Review financial statements and collaborate on financial planning to support profitability.
Strategic Development
Work with senior leadership to align maintenance objectives with company growth initiatives.
Lead the development of a certified repair facility under Part 145, including compliance readiness, facilities, and systems.
Assess and recommend tools, technologies, and software to optimize operations.
Minimum requirements:
Valid Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate
Current Inspection Authorization
Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience in general aviation, including Part 91 or Part 135 operations
At least 1 year in a supervisory maintenance role
Strong knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration regulations, including Parts 43, 91, 119, 135, and 145
Proven experience managing compliance for Airworthiness Directives, Minimum Equipment Lists, and maintenance records
Ability to work full-time on-site and lead all maintenance functions
Strong leadership and communication skills
