The Senior Wheels and Brakes Engineer plays a critical role in designing, developing, and integrating high-performance wheels and braking systems for next-generation Game Aerospace aircraft and for customer applications. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including airframe, propulsion, and systems engineering, to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency in the aircraft's ground-handling and braking capabilities.

In this role, you will be responsible for: 

  • Conceptualize and design wheels, brakes, and related systems tailored for the aircraft's specific performance requirements.

  • Conduct detailed stress and thermal analysis to ensure system durability and performance under various operating conditions.

  • Collaborate with the airframe and landing gear teams to ensure seamless integration of wheels and brakes.

  • Optimize system layout to balance performance, weight, and manufacturability.

  • Develop and execute test plans to validate the performance of wheels and braking systems, including load testing, durability, and environmental assessments.

  • Analyze test data and refine designs to meet or exceed industry standards and certification requirements.

  • Work closely with suppliers to source high-quality components and ensure compliance with design specifications.

  • Evaluate new technologies and materials to enhance system performance and longevity.

  • Prepare technical documentation and reports to support certification processes with relevant aviation authorities.

  • Address certification feedback and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Mentoring and coaching junior engineers.

Minimum requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited university (relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree on a case-by-case basis).

  • 7 (seven) or more years of aerospace industry experience in the design and development of wheels and brake systems.

  • Proficiency with 3D modeling software, preferably SolidWorks. 

  • Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes relevant to wheels and brakes.

  • Familiarity with FAA certification requirements.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Passion for aircraft, flying, and all things aviation (preferred).

  • Previous work experience with general aviation OEM (preferred).

  • Experience with 14 CFR Part 23 and interfacing with the FAA (preferred).
