The Welder and Fabricator is primarily responsible for constructing prototype and production parts using (GTAW) to the standard of AWS D17.1 class A welding. In addition to operating typical metal fabrication equipment, they operate CNC machines such as press brakes and laser cutters using engineering instructions and drawings. Other responsibilities include fabrication of welding and assembly jigs, test stands and fixtures, and production support equipment using MIG.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Working safely and following all company EHS procedures.
Interpreting engineering drawings, models, and weld symbols; selecting materials and following defined fabrication procedures.
Setting up and performing GTAW (primary) and MIG (as needed) welding operations; prepping, fitting, tacking, and completing welds in all positions.
Controlling heat input; monitoring distortion, warping, shrink, and fit throughout welding and fitting operations.
Fabricating and maintaining welding/assembly jigs, test stands, fixtures, and production support tooling.
Operating CNC metal-fabrication equipment (press brake, laser cutter) to trained standards.
Performing in-process and final dimensional/visual inspections to print and specification.
Maintaining part and material traceability per company procedure.
Keeping the work cell clean, organized, and production-ready; communicating tooling/material needs.
Safely moving material and assemblies (forklift, rigging, shop equipment).
Supporting additional fabrication/production tasks as assigned.
Minimum requirements:
2 (two) or more years of professional welding experience using GTAW and MIG in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
Working experience in welding and fabrication in the aerospace industry.
Working knowledge of welding & metal-fab equipment (cutting, grinding, forming, fixturing).
Able to read/interpret blueprints, GD&T basics, and weld symbols.
Basic shop math (fractions/decimals, layout, bend allowances helpful).
English reading/writing/speaking sufficient for safety, work orders, and documentation.
Demonstrated ability to weld in vertical, flat, and overhead positions with precision manual dexterity.

Two-year welding, welding technology, or metals degree/certificate (preferred).
High-accuracy fabrication experience (preferred).
Current qualification welding 4130 (chromoly) to AWS D17.1 (please note class/position if applicable) (preferred).
Experience building fixtures, jigs, or low-volume production tooling (preferred).
High intellectual curiosity, creative thinking and problem-solving, and demonstrated initiative (preferred).
Passion for aircraft, flying, and all things aviation (preferred).
